Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Velto handles account data, translation inputs, visible-face disclosures, permissions, and service operations.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Velto collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use a language practice and translation companion. It covers account settings, language practice, translation inputs, optional purchases, permissions, and support operations.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the information you provide directly, the content you choose to upload, and service records created while you use Velto. That can include account details, language choices, translation inputs, submitted images, local AI Talk history, and other service records, purchase records, and support requests.

  • Account details, language preferences, and app settings.
  • Typed text, spoken input, selected images for translation, AI Talk submissions, and returned results you choose to keep on your device.
  • Purchase, billing, and support request records.

3. How We Use Information

We use collected information to operate Velto, support language practice, process text, voice, and image translation requests, provide AI-assisted replies, handle support requests, process optional purchases, and improve product quality. We also use relevant records to prevent abuse, prevent fraud, and respond to legal obligations.

4. AI Translation and Selected Images

After you choose AI-assisted image translation, Velto presents a consent prompt before translation inputs are sent for cloud processing. The selected user image may include visible facial features, body pose, clothing, background, and other visual characteristics present in the photo because the full image may be processed to extract text and return the requested translation. We also process the translated result returned for the active request. We use this information only to extract readable text, generate the requested translation, and present the result in the app.

5. Third-Party AI Processing and Storage

To complete AI-assisted image translation, the selected user photo may be sent to Alibaba Cloud DashScope (dashscope.aliyuncs.com) for cloud processing. During processing, translation inputs may be handled in the provider's cloud systems and the translated result may be kept on your device as part of translation history or active review. Velto does not use this information for face recognition, identity verification, biometric profiling, or any unrelated purpose. Third-party recipients are contractually required to provide equivalent protection or the same level of protection for the data they receive.

6. AI Translation Retention and Deletion

Velto does not store source images for image translation on its own servers. Selected translation inputs are sent only for the active translation request. Google states translation text is held briefly in memory only to perform and return the result, and Alibaba states direct API calls do not save conversation data and record only desensitized call status. Translation history and language settings may remain on your device until you clear the feature history, remove the app, or otherwise delete that history. 7. Camera, Photo Library, and Media Permissions

The app requests camera access only when you choose to capture a photo for a post, profile image, or AI-assisted image translation input. The app requests photo-library access only when you choose to import an image for a post, profile update, or AI-assisted image translation. Microphone and speech-recognition access are requested only when you choose to record spoken notes for translation.

8. Audio Processing

If microphone access is requested by the app, it is requested only after a user-initiated action that needs audio input and only for the duration needed to handle that request. Microphone-related data is not used for identity verification, biometric profiling, or unrelated background collection.

9. Purchases and Billing

If you choose an in-app purchase, we process purchase and billing records needed to deliver purchased coins, restore eligible transactions, handle support, and prevent fraud. Payment processing may involve Apple App Store records and our internal purchase logs.

10. Account, Language Settings, and Local History

When you keep account-related state, language settings, AI Talk history, balance information, or current translation activity in the app, we store and process those records as needed to let you revisit the service, sync purchase-related access, and provide support.

11. Tracking, Analytics, and Advertising

If tracking-related permissions are available, we may use tracking, analytics, and advertising measurement signals to understand campaign performance, detect abuse, and improve service delivery.

12. Sharing and Service Providers

We may share information with hosting providers, infrastructure partners, customer support tools, payment processors, translation providers, and other service providers that help us operate the app. Those providers may only use the data for the services they perform for us.

13. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as it is needed to provide the service, maintain account history, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, enforce agreements, and investigate fraud or abuse.

14. Your Rights and Choices

You can change permissions through device settings and contact support@velto.com if you need help with deletion, account access, translation or AI history questions, privacy questions, or other rights requests.

15. Children's Privacy

Velto is not directed to children. If you believe a child provided personal information without permission, contact us so we can review and remove the data where appropriate.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the policy date and publishing the revised version on this page.
